Cannery Row is a part of our history here in Monterey Bay. There is a self-guided tour that goes around Cannery Row and recently four of the historical signs were stolen!! One of the signs was recovered and has been reinstalled. Vandalism has been a big problem as well.
Now I don't know about you, but who the heck steals a sign?!? ...Granted, they are worth about $250 but come on, have some respect! The signs were installed last year and the thefts began shortly after. Originally attached with strong epoxy glue, they are now considering bolting them down so as to avoid anymore theft. Surveillance cameras are also being installed in order to try and capture the culprit in action!!
In my opinion, this is all a big ordeal for such a stupid thing! It's a historical sign...leave it alone.
